Safety Grants

Community Safety Grants Awarded

In April, we announced that the Foundation has earmarked grant funds to support Community Safety Projects, using proceeds from last year's Beach Music Festival. We invited our local nonprofits to think about what safety means to them and our community, and spearhead projects that promote safety and well-being.

We are still reviewing the grant applications we received, but are pleased to announce that we have already awarded these two grants:

$3,200 to WWER 88.1 FM for back-up generators at both the transmitter site and studio to keep the station on the air and online during power outages and emergencies.

$1,500 to Riverkeepers Network for water-testing supplies, and community outreach and education. Colonial Beach volunteers test local waterways weekly and post results to the swim guide.

Thank You...

...Everyone Who Helped Send Local Kids to 4-H Camp

Your generous support gave the adventures of summer camp to eight Colonial Beach kids who otherwise would have not been able to go. The 4-H Junior Camp at the Jamestown 4-H Educational Center is a week-long, sleep-away camp where kids can safely experience new activities, learn new skills, meet kids from other Virginia localities, and build self-confidence. Thank you for making their dreams of summer camp come true. (You can find more photos on our Facebook page.)
