The 2025 award was presented to one of the Foundation’s founding members, Dr. Peter Fahrney. A longtime past president and now an emeritus member of the Board, Fahrney’s passion for Colonial Beach, leadership, history, and wisdom have helped shape the Foundation’s vision and mission.
As part of its 20th anniversary celebration in 2025, the Colonial Beach Community Foundation (CBCF) reintroduced a cherished local tradition—the Community Impact Award, formerly known as the Citizen of the Year. The award recognizes Colonial Beach residents who demonstrate outstanding service and a lasting commitment to the community.
The deadline for nominations is August 15 and the recipient will be announced at the Annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival each year.
