Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce and Community Foundation to Host Election Forums
Colonial Beach, VA | September 24, 2021
Residents in Colonial Beach have important decisions to make on election day, November 2, 2021. There is a race for two open seats on the Town Council.
Candidates for Town Council are Kenneth Allison Jr., Andrea Clement, Maggie Lane (write in), and David Williams.
According to the Town’s website (www.colonialbeachva.net) the elected officials are responsible for approving the budget and setting tax rates; focusing on major community projects and goals; considering the Town’s long-term future through land use, capital improvement, and strategic planning.
Each year in which there is an election, the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Colonial Beach Community Foundation work together to host a public forum in which residents can hear more about each candidate’s plan if elected. This year the Candidates’ Forum for Town Council will be Tuesday, October 19 from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The forums will be held in person in the gymnasium at the Colonial Beach Elementary School. Residents who wish to participate in person will be required to wear a mask. There will be a limited number of people admitted in person, and seating will be arranged with proper distancing requirements. Hand sanitizer will be available. The Foundation, Chamber, Town and schools adhere to the Virginia Department of Health’s guidelines for COVID-19.
Colonial Beach residents are asked to submit questions for the candidates prior to the forum. Questions should be sent (no later than October 18) to info@colonialbeach.org which is the Chamber of Commerce’s email address. The questions will not be shared with the candidates ahead of the forums. No questions will be accepted during the forums. Carey Geddes, president of the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce and Cathy Bokman, VP with the Colonial Beach Community Foundation will moderate the event.
